SPRING LOOKS : TOP PICKS

Now that Spring is finally here I wanted to share some of my fave looks.

Once it warms up, I always feel so much more alive. And it never fails that every year I have a major case of 'Spring Fever' and can't wait to put together outfits for the perfect weather. This season, I got my hands on some great items and so I decided to piece them together, get out to my new secret beach spot and take a few stills - I even edited together a little vid for your viewing pleasure.

I absolutely love this Willow & Clay Military Vest - it pairs perfectly with the lace Black Sheep Stargazer dress but is also great with dark skinny jeans, a feminine sheer top and a great pair of ankle booties. The fit of this vest is great and so are the large pockets and drawstring at the waist to give a more girlish look.

I love that festival season tags along with Spring - the looks that are shown during this time across blogs, brands and instagram are so fun and inspiring. The level of carefree attitude in fashion is completely heightened. I think that the Black Sheep 'Bonnaroo' suede fringe vest falls into that category very well - especially with this Lost bell sleeve lace top.

Lace dominates my closet - I'm so drawn to it's sheer feminine beauty but I also love to roughen it up a bit. Juxtaposition with lace is a constant in my styling rotation. I love how this Black Sheep long sleeve lace dress fits so well and that it's so girly and pairing it with the Lost denim vest definitely gives a it a little edge and mixes it up a bit.

So, as you can tell I'm pretty excited about Spring and the warm weather. Thanks for checking out my looks. Also a huge thanks to my girls at Shout PR, Black Sheep/Black Swan, Willow & Clay, and Lost.

TESTINO AT PRISM

As soon March hits and the weather starts to warm up I'm itching to get out and about.

I've been hiding out and working on some projects along with my brand and had seriously forgotten the last time I had a day off. I mean a real day off. So naturally when I heard that there was an exhibit at Prism Gallery featuring Mario Testino's work, I used that as an excuse to pull away from all my obligations.

Being that Testino is one of the world's most influential photographers for the fashion industry I was really interested in checking out his work in person. You may know of him through some of the shoots he did for Vogue and Vanity Fair and his ad campaigns for Valentino, Gucci, Burberry and Versace.

A lot of the photos on display were maybe in some people's opinion provocative, although I found a lot of artistic beauty in them. I loved how some of the women modeled and the way their bodies were posed. I always find that the strange creative photography inspires me a lot, so in a way the 'day off' did some good and boosted my spirit a bit. You can't stay cooped up in your work - you definitely gotta get out and experience things a bit and get excited again.

Since the gallery was in LA, I of course loitered around for a while - did some browsing around on Melrose and grabbed some food and sangria (duh) at Tart. It was definitely a good little outing. I've been back on the grind since but as soon as our lovely Pacific Ocean warms up you'll be able to find me along the coast enjoying the weather and escaping from work again.

TRUNK SHOW

Hey guys, guess what, you're invited.

Mark your calendar's for Friday, March 22nd - I'm hosting a trunk show at my lovely friend Bri's boutique inside the OC Mart Mix in Costa Mesa. If you're into things like: dessert, drinks, music and ponchos then you might want to try to stop by. There's even going to be special giveaways and a chance to win the new Talc poncho style that I'm releasing that day.

Definitely hope to see you guys there!

XOXO

LOCALE MAGAZINE FEATURES 16th COLONY

A few weeks ago, Locale Magazine interviewed me about 16th Colony.

The piece just released a few days ago on their website and I'm really excited about it so I thought I'd go ahead and share it. The way things have been progressing and the little things that are happening to move the brand forward has made this all such an amazing experience so far.

Anyway, wander on over to Locale's site and check out the Q&A to get the scoop behind the this whole thing.

SHOWING THE GOODS TO MR. KATE

In the midst of launching 16th Colony I couldn't wait to get the ponchos out and about.

I met up with a few stylish girls to show them firsthand what the brand is all about. To me it was really important to get the ponchos in front of people who knew and appreciated luxurious handmade goods. This way they could see the craftsmanship, feel the yummy fabrics and experience how addicting it is to throw one on and go.

I met up with my lovely friend Kate Albrecht, the mastermind behind Mr. Kate, and chatted with her about her awesome new Spring/Summer collection and also had her try on a few of my 16C pieces. She looked amazing in all of them - I personally loved the Agate on her since she looks great in vibrant colors so I'm happy that it found a new home in her closet.

16th COLONY GIVEAWAY

In case you haven't heard 16th Colony is giving away the Obsidian Poncho.

The Obsidian is such a favorite because of the mysterious lace cut outs and suede hand - I figured you guys might want one of your own, so here's the deal: follow @16thcolony on Instagram, repost this photo and tag @16thcolony and #cozyup. The giveaway ends on Wednesday, March 13th and that's when we'll announce our lovely winner. Good luck!

16th COLONY : THE VIDEO LOOKBOOK

With a few weeks into the launch of 16th Colony, I'm really happy with how well it's gone.

I've had such a great response and have been pretty busy packaging up a bunch of ponchos and sending them out to new homes. Anyway, I wanted to post the video lookbook that I produced for the collection. I course always love a good photo lookbook, however I think that a short video lookbook can give you such a strong feeling for what the brand is - it's almost like you can sense exactly what it'd be like to be surrounded by that world and to so effortlessly wear each of the pieces. Everything about it, the music, the setting, the mood - it's to allow for the imagination to be let free to run wild.

BLOGIVERSARY : YEAR ONE

This is the B-Day of Hanger Shortage's blog and I wanted to acknowledge it since I'm sort of sentimental and like to look back at what I was doing one year ago.

I decided to go through the entire blog and and look at all that I've done this year. Every post jogs a memory of course and I also can't help to think that it's seriously incredible that it has gone by this quickly. There were posts where I'd think "What?! I did that in September? That feels like 6 weeks ago!" But anyway, because of Hanger Shortage I've been able to meet so many like-minded, driven, talented people and I'm grateful that it's allowed for such great opportunities.

Having the blog portion of my site has also caused me to react differently to everyday life and now my camera is always in my purse. It keeps me on my toes and always thinking of things that not only I want to experience, but stuff that you guys may be interested in as well. Thanks to those of you that drop in to check everything out :)

I wanted to share some of my fav photos and the way I see it, these are basically quick slices of what the last year has entailed.
